RMP Operation : 12.78 -kg of cannabis, cigarettes, cash recovered, mother, son arrested

In an operation conducted by Chandrima Police Station of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) in the Hazarapukur area of the city, 12.784 kilograms of cannabis, 1,373 packets of cigarettes of various brands, and BDT 65,272 in cash were recovered. Two individuals were arrested during the raid.
The arrested individuals are Mosammat Rowshan Ara (55) and Md. Sumon (35). Rowshan is the wife of late Abdul Khalek Sheikh of Hazarapukur area under Chandrima Police Station, and Sumon is her son.
According to reports, the operation was conducted at around 2:45 AM on the night of May 8, 2025 (early hours of May 9). Under the overall supervision of RMP Crime Division’s Deputy Police Commissioner Md. Riazul Islam, SI Md. Abdul Hakim Sarkar and his team were on night patrol, drug recovery, and special duty in coordination with the army.
During this time, acting on a tip-off, they learned that some drug dealers were staying at Rowshan’s house in Hazarapukur to sell illegal drugs. Based on this information, the Chandrima Police team conducted a raid at 3:30 AM and arrested Rowshan and Sumon.
During the operation, 12.784 kg of cannabis, 1,373 packets of cigarettes of various brands, and BDT 65,272 in cash were recovered from their possession.
A case has been filed against the arrested under the Narcotics Control Act at Chandrima Police Station, and they have been sent to jail through the honorable court.
