Swift action by Ansar, Fire Service tames Nawabpur Tower blaze

A major disaster was averted tonight due to the prompt intervention of embedded Ansar members and the coordinated efforts of the Fire Service, who successfully brought a fire under control at Nawabpur Tower under the jurisdiction of Shahbagh Police Station. The timely action by the law enforcers under the Dhaka Metropolitan Ansar (DMA) South Zone minimized potential casualties and damage to property in the busy commercial building.
The incident originated around 8:30 PM on Monday from an electrical short circuit in an air conditioning unit at the AB Bank branch located on the second floor of the tower. Upon receiving the news, a team of local Ansar members, including Shahbagh Thana Ansar-VDP Officer PC Md. Moktar Hossain and APC Shahin Mia, rushed to the spot from their nearby camp to initiate preliminary firefighting efforts while simultaneously alerting the Fire Service.
Recognizing the gravity of the situation, the Ansar members immediately utilized megaphones to warn residents and businessmen inside the building and surrounding areas, facilitating a safe and orderly evacuation. They also managed the gathering crowd and cordoned off the area to ensure overall security and prevent any hindrance to emergency operations.
Fire Service personnel subsequently arrived at the scene and launched a joint firefighting operation with the assistance of the Ansar team, successfully extinguishing the flames completely by 9:00 PM.
