Teen arrested with 9 cannabis plants by DB at Betagi

District Detective Police have arrested a teenage farmer named Joy Pahlan (17) with nine cannabis plants in Betagi, a sub-district town of Barguna.
The teenager was arrested at 1 am on Friday from Chandamoni area of Sarishamuri union of the upazila.
After registering a case under the Narcotics Control Act against the arrested teenager at Betagi police station, he was sent to jail in Barguna through a court on Saturday.
The arrested farmer Joy is the son of Sattar Pahlan of Chandamoni village. It is learned that the cannabis plants recovered are 27, 25, 24, 20, 18, 17, 13, 9 and 8 inches tall. The plants were planted on the ground by the pond of his house. Barguna District Detective Branch SI (Retd) Bikash Karmakar said that the local Joy had planted the cannabis seeds and made the trees so that the cannabis could be processed and sold later.
Police said that the Barguna Superintendent of Police had directed that the campaign against drugs would continue until Barguna is drug-free. This campaign was conducted in line with this.
