An 18-year-old divorced woman met 21-year-old Maruf Sheikh on the social media platform TikTok eleven months ago. Subsequently, on the promise of marriage, they traveled to multiple locations, including a friend's house, Kuakata, and Sajek. Trouble arose when he later refused to marry her, leading the woman to file a rape case against the young man. The accused has since been arrested by the police.

These incidents occurred in Munshiganj Sadar. The victim is a resident of Sipahipara, Rampal Union, while the arrested youth, Md. Maruf Sheikh, is from Adhara Union but lives in the Ganokpara area of the city.

Munshiganj Sadar Police Station's OC  M. Saiful Alam said   the accused youth was apprehended from his home in the city's Ganokpara area on Monday night. After the victim filed a rape case as the plaintiff at the police station on Tuesday afternoon, the accused was sent to court.

The case statement alleges that the two met on TikTok eleven months ago in 2024, and their conversations eventually led to a romantic relationship. When the victim informed her lover Maruf that she had been married once before, he accepted it and took her to various places.

Furthermore, the plaintiff alleges in the case statement that she was repeatedly raped on the promise of marriage very soon and whenever there was an opportunity: at a friend's building near Rampal School in November 2024, in Kuakata, Patuakhali, in January of this year, and later during a trip to Sajek Valley in Rangamati district. It's also alleged that the accused stored objectionable photos and videos of the plaintiff on his mobile phone.

The complaint further states that Maruf currently wishes to have no relationship with the plaintiff and has ceased contact by threatening and intimidating her with the objectionable photos and videos he has stored.

It's also mentioned that most recently, on May 14, around 11 AM, when she contacted him about marriage, the accused Maruf told the woman, "I will not marry you. If you make too much of a fuss about this, I will viral your objectionable photos on social media and defame you." Following this, the victim decided to file a case.
