A team of the District Detective Branch (DB) police recovered three Holstein cows, worth Tk  around ten lakh taka, stolen from Adarsha Dairy Farm in Hamidpur area of Char Kawar Union, Munshiganj Sadar, from Narayanganj.

This information was shared in a press conference by Additional Superintendent of Police Mohammad Firoz Kabir at around 9:30 PM on Wednesday night.

He said that the operation was led by DB Police Sub-Inspector Md. Yasin Ahmed (PPM).

According to Yasin Ahmed, the robbery took place between 3:30 AM and 5:00 AM on May 3rd at Adarsha Dairy Farm owned by Kalachan (50) in the Hamidpur area. The farm housed a total of 47 foreign breed cows, both big and small.

Two workers were employed at the dairy farm and would sleep inside the premises at night. On the day of the incident, 3–4 unidentified individuals armed with local weapons, including sharp machetes, broke into the farm by tearing down its fence. When workers Billal (42) and Tanu (45) were asleep, the robbers brutally beat them, leaving them seriously injured.

When worker Tanu screamed, one of the robbers struck the left side of his head with the blunt end of a machete, causing severe bruises.

Threatening to kill the workers, the robbers tied their hands, feet, and mouths, laid them on the bed inside the farm, and covered them with blankets. They then took away three large white Holstein cows, estimated to be worth around 10 lakh taka in the current market, along with a button mobile phone used by worker Billal.

On May 13th, the victim Kalachan filed a case at the Sadar Police Station. Subsequently, on Wednesday, two individuals were arrested: Liton (32), directly involved in the robbery, and Shahjalal (52), connected to a cattle trade network, from Daudkandi area in Comilla district.

During interrogation, Liton disclosed the names and addresses of other individuals involved in the robbery and revealed the location where the stolen cows had been sold. Based on this information, the police recovered the three cows from the farm of Lokman Bepari in Koltapara area of Mirertak under Sonargaon police station in Narayanganj district.

The operation to arrest the remaining individuals involved in the incident is going on.
