
Two business firms fined in Tongibari

The National Consumer Rights Protection Department has fined two establishments a total of Tk 8,000 in a drive at Kamarkhara Bazar in Tongibari Upazila of Munshiganj.
This drive was conducted by Asif Al Azad, Assistant Director of the District Consumer Rights Protection Department, at around 12:30 pm on Tuesday.
In the drive, the owner of the pharmacy, Mohammad Sumon, was fined Tk 4,000 for storing and displaying expired medicines at Sumon Pharmacy.
In addition, the owner of the establishment, Swapan Ghosh, was fined Tk 4,000 for preparing various food items including sweets and yogurt in an unhygienic environment at Swapan Sweetmeat. At the same time, the establishment was ordered to prepare food in a clean and hygienic environment.
Upazila Sanitary Inspector Abdullah Al Mamun and a team from Tongibari Police Station assisted in the drive.
Assistant Director Asif Al Azad said, "We are regularly monitoring the market in the interest of consumers. In today's operation at Kamarkhara market, two organizations were fined 8 thousand taka under the Consumer Rights Protection Act. Our operation will continue."
