Two companies fined for using detergent in milk, hydrogen in jilapi in Pirojpur

The administration has fined two establishments Tk 10,000 for using detergent in milk and hydrogen in jilapi during a mobile food safety laboratory operation in Pirojpur.
The district administration has fined two establishments Tk 10,000 each after the Bangladesh Mobile Food Safety Laboratory conducted a raid on Bhai Bhai Hotel and Restaurant and Food Palace in Pirojpur's CEO Office area on Thursday afternoon and found evidence of detergent being mixed in milk and hydrogen in jilapi. Raids were also conducted on turmeric, chilli and milk sales points in various shops in the city.
During the operation, the presence of detergent was detected in some milk samples during an immediate test by the mobile food safety laboratory. Later, a mobile court was conducted and the seller concerned was fined under the Consumer Rights Protection Act and the Safe Food Act for selling adulterated milk. At that time, the unscrupulous traders were warned and the administration warned of strict action if such irregularities were committed in the future.
District Food Safety Department officer Shamim Hossain said that mixing detergent in milk is very harmful. It can pose a serious health risk to children and the elderly. Therefore, buyers have been urged to be aware. If you see suspicious food products, you have been requested to inform the concerned authorities.
Such campaigns will continue to protect public health. Market monitoring has been strengthened to prevent food adulteration, especially in view of the month of Ramadan and festivals. The presence of detergent mixed in milk at Bhai Bhai Hotel and Restaurant and the presence of hydrogen at Food Palace have been fined 10,000 taka, and the two establishments have been warned to stay away from such activities in the future.
