
Typhoid Vaccination Campaign inaugurated in Durgapur

A typhoid vaccination campaign has been officially inaugurated in Durgapr UNO Sabrina Sharmin inaugurated the campaign at Singa Adarsh Girls' High School in the upazila on Sunday morning.
Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. Mohammad Ruhul Amin, Resident Medical Officer Dr. Mehedi Hasan, Secondary Education Officer Md. Dulal Alam, Primary Education Officer Asaduzzaman and the school's headmaster Md. Rafiqul Islam, along with local teachers and students, were present at the event.
According to the Health Department, a total of 45,299 children and adolescents aged 9 months to 15 years in Durgapur Upazila have been targeted to be vaccinated against typhoid. Of these, 30,535 will be vaccinated at school level and 14,694 at the community level.
At the inaugural ceremony, UNO Sabrina Sharmin said, "Typhoid is a preventable disease. This disease can be controlled through awareness and vaccination. This initiative of the government will play an important role in protecting the health of children and adolescents."
Health officials said that vaccination programs will be conducted in every educational institution in the upazila in phases. In addition, special vaccination centers will be open at the community level for those who do not attend school.
