Various events in Gopalganj to raise awareness about free legal aid

National Legal Aid Day was celebrated in Gopalganj with various events to raise public awareness about free legal aid programs.
The program was inaugurated by releasing balloons at the District and Sessions Judge Court premises on Tuesday morning. After that, a colorful rally went through various streets of the city and ended at the District Shilpakala Academy.
The discussion meeting held there was presided over by District and Sessions Judge Md. Shamsul Haque. Deputy Commissioner Md. Arif-uz-Zaman spoke as the chief guest. Police Superintendent Md. Habibullah, Judge of the Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal Md. Arafat Hossain, Chief Judicial Magistrate Md. Ashiquzzaman, Legal Aid Officer Shafiqul Islam, Public Prosecutor Advocate Abul Khair and PP Advocate Taufiqul Islam Taufiq were present as special guests.
The speakers said that legal aid is being ensured at government expense for the financially indigent, which is making it easier to access justice. They called on those concerned to play an active role in informing more people about this service.
Judges, lawyers, policemen, journalists, people from different walks of life and students were present at the event. The District Legal Aid Committee organized a day-long program to mark the day.
