A training and discussion session on ensuring safe water supply and maintaining rural water distribution systems was held today in Nagurambari, a remote hill village in the Joggyachhola Union of Manikchhari Upazila.
Organized by the Zabarang Kalyan Samiti with overall support from Helen Keller International and technical cooperation from Friends in Village Development Bangladesh (FIVDB), the event took place on Tuesday afternoon at Nagurampara Para Center. The program focused on the smooth operation of local water infrastructure, routine maintenance practices, safe water usage, and community-led water management responsibilities.
Chaired by Zabarang Kalyan Samiti Manikchhari Upazila Coordinator Usuihla Marma, the discussion featured FIVDB Specialist Aniruddha Kumar Sarkar as the key speaker.
Highlighting technical aspects of rural water schemes, Sarkar emphasized that installing distribution infrastructure alone is insufficient without proper daily upkeep and timely repairs.
Attending as a special guest, local Para Karbari Dhoni Kumar Tripura stressed that community participation and public awareness are crucial for keeping local water facilities operational.
