The Youth Red Crescent of the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society Barguna Unit conducted an awareness rally and a town-wide cleanliness drive in Barguna to destroy mosquito breeding grounds and prevent the spread of dengue.

Approximately 150 youth members participated in the program on Saturday.. Volunteers joined the drive from the Barguna Unit alongside institutional units from Barguna Government College, Government Women's College, Government Polytechnic Institute, Barguna Collegiate High School, and Red Crescent Vidyaniketan.

The program commenced with an awareness rally led by Barguna Red Crescent Unit Vice Chairman Nazrul Islam Manik. Participants carried banners and placards to educate citizens on destroying Aedes mosquito breeding sites, removing stagnant water, and maintaining clean domestic surroundings.

The rally was attended by Barguna District BNP Member Secretary and Red Crescent Life Member Humayun Hasan Shahin, Red Crescent Barguna Unit Secretary A.B.M. Golam Haider Nilu, members A.Z.M. Saleh Faruq, Nasir Uddin Molla, and Mir Sanaul Haq, Unit Level Officer M.A. Karim, former Youth Chief Abdur Rahman Sojib, and current Youth Chief Md. Sojib Hossain.

Following the rally on Saturday, youth volunteers divided into teams to conduct sanitation operations across major streets and public spaces in Barguna pourashava. Cleanliness drives were carried out at Town Hall, the fish and raw produce markets, Nazrul Islam Road, Hospital Road, College Road, Lakurtala Town Hall Bridge, Thanapara, the DC Office and hospital precincts, Amtalapara, and Chorkolony.

During the drive, volunteers cleared stagnant water, destroyed potential mosquito breeding containers, and distributed educational materials to local residents, shopkeepers, and pedestrians. Specialized Youth Red Crescent teams managed registration, traffic coordination, media communications, and field operations throughout the initiative.

Youth Red Crescent Barguna Unit Youth Chief Md. Sojib Hossain emphasized that dengue prevention must become a sustained social movement, reaffirming the organization's commitment to mobilizing youth for public health protection and humanitarian service.
