
3-day remand granted for accused in Primeasia Univ student murder case

A Dhaka court on Friday granted a three-day remand for Nofaria Haque alias Tina, one of the accused in the murder case of Primeasia University student Zahidul Islam Parvez.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mahbub Alam passed the order after Tina was produced before the court.
Banani Police Station Inspector AKM Moin Uddin sought a five-day remand, while the defence lawyer appealed for bail and dismissal of the remand prayer. Following the hearing, the court granted a three-day remand.
Tina was arrested from the Jagannathpur area under Vatara Police Station on Thursday night around 8pm.
So far, police have arrested seven individuals in connection with the murder. Among them, two have already given confessional statements before the court. Six of the accused, including the prime suspect and those who confessed, are currently behind bars.
Earlier, on April 20, the victim’s cousin Humayun Kabir filed a case with Banani Police Station against eight named individuals and 20-30 unnamed others in connection with the killing.
