Thirty-five students of the 60th batch of Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) at Bangladesh Agricultural University are undergoing internships at different institutions in Malaysia, Thailand, Japan and Nepal.

The information was disclosed at the inauguration of the 23rd internship programme of the DVM 60th batch at Syed Nazrul Islam Conference Hall of the university on Saturday.

Of the 35 students, 16 are undergoing internships in Malaysia, 12 in Thailand, four in Japan and three in Nepal. The remaining students of the 179-member batch are completing their internships at different institutions in Bangladesh.

 Academic Awards-2026 were also handed over to eight students of the DVM 59th batch for their outstanding academic results. The recipients are Nurun Layla Shawon, Sabrina Yasmin Nupur, Fahmida Sultana Jonaki, Afsana Mimi, Akhi Akter Shila, Naorin Jannat, Md Morsalin and Salma Khatun.

University Grants Commission Member Professor Dr Masuma Habib attended the programme as the chief guest, while BAU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Md Rafiqul Islam Sardar was present as the chief patron.

Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture and Student Affairs Adviser Professor Dr GM Mujibor Rahman attended as a special guest. Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Science and convener of the Dean's Council Professor Dr Md Bahanur Rahman chaired the programme.

Professor Bahanur Rahman urged the interns to use the programme to apply their academic knowledge and develop practical skills.

Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Md Rafiqul Islam Sardar said internship programmes had been introduced in all faculties of the university. He said the DVM was a prestigious and challenging degree and described the Faculty of Veterinary Science as one of the university's prominent faculties. 

Professor Dr Masuma Habib said talented students in developed countries pursued veterinary science and expressed her pride in BAU students participating in internships.
