Activists, supporters snatch Jubo League leader from police in Pabna

A Jubo League leader named Sohel Rana was kidnapped from the police station in front of Bera Model Police Station in Pabna. The incident took place on Saturday noon in the Kagmairpara Stadium area of Thana Para.
Locals said that the incident has created tension in the area. Bera Model Police Station OC Nayan Kumar confirmed the kidnapping.
Sohel Rana is the son of the late Khandaker Aynul Haque of Shambhupur Kagmair area of Bera Municipality. He was reportedly the former joint secretary of Bera Municipality Jubo League.
According to police and local sources, on Saturday (August 8) at around 12 noon, based on a secret tip-off, the police conducted a raid in the Kagmairpara Stadium area next to Bera Model Police Station. At that time, the raid was led by ASI Sohel Rana and SI Rashed and Jubo League leader Sohel Rana was arrested. Later, while taking him to the police station, he got into an argument with some local police. At one stage, a scuffle broke out between the police and them. At that time, the activists and supporters snatched Sohel Rana from the police.
Bera Model Police Station OC Nayan Kumar said, "There are two arrest warrants against Sohel Rana. Based on the information that he was staying in the stadium area, the police faced obstacles from locals while trying to arrest him there. At that time, several locals obstructed the police's work."
