Autocratic AL govt has destroyed energy, power sectors thru' corruption : Shama Obaid

State Minister for Foreign Affairs and BNP Central Committee Organizing Secretary Shama Obaid Islam has said that the previous authoritarian Awami League government damaged the country's energy and power sectors through corruption and irregularities. He said that this important sector could not progress as expected due to long-standing corruption and irregularities.
He made these remarks while speaking as the chief guest at a joy rally and fish fry release ceremony organized by the Upazila BNP in Nagarkanda, Faridpur on Saturday afternoon to mark the 48th founding anniversary of the BNP.
Shama Obaid Islam said that the previous Awami League government destroyed the energy and power sector through corruption. He said that these irregularities have had an impact on the country's economy and the common people.
In her speech, Shama Obaid also highlighted the contribution of BNP founder martyred President Ziaur Rahman. She said that Ziaur Rahman, in addition to protecting the country's independence and sovereignty, also gave importance to increasing agriculture, industry and production. She also mentioned his various initiatives to strengthen the rural economy.
The joyous rally organized to mark the BNP's founding anniversary circled various roads in Nagarkanda Upazila town. Later, fish fry were released into the open waters of the Kumar River.
District BNP joint convener Khandaker Tulu, Upazila BNP former acting president Habibur Rahman Babul Talukder, General Secretary Saifur Rahman Mukul, Vice Presidents Syed Shahinuzzaman Shahin, Alimuzzaman Selu, Mohammad Mahbub Ali Miah, Organizing Secretary Shawkat Ali Sharif, and Joint General Secretary Badruzzaman Tara Molla, along with leaders and activists of BNP and its affiliates, were present at the event.
