A case has been registered at Ishwardi police station against 71 leaders and workers, including the organizing secretary of Pabna district Awami League, former MP, on the charge of armed attack on the leaders and activists of the government overthrow movement, including the attempt to kill Jubo Dal workers in Ishwardi.

Apart from this, 70/80 unidentified people have been accused. Youth Dal activist Nazrul Islam filed the case at Ishwardi police station as the plaintiff. Rafiqul Islam, officer-in-charge of Ishradi police station, confirmed the matter on Friday night. In the case, Pabna district Awami League's organizing secretary, former MP of Pabna-4 Constituency Galibur Rahman Sharif has been made the number one accused.

Among the other accused are Municipal Awami League General Secretary and Municipal Mayor Ishahak Ali Malitha, Upazila Parishad Chairman Emdadul Haque Rana Sardar, Vice Chairman Abdus Salam Khan, Lakshikunda Union Parishad Chairman Anis-ur-Rahman Sharif, Municipal Councilor Abul Hashem, former general of Upazila Awami League. Names of 71 people including editor Moklechur Rahman Mintu, Osman Gani, Quddus Ali, Md Fantu, Upazila Jubo League President Shirhan Sharif Tamal, Municipal Jubo League President Alauddin Biplab, Jubilee Leader Rakibul Hasan Roni, Tofail Ahmed Roni, Swajan Sardar and Municipal Chhatra League President Abir Hasan Sambal. has been Apart from this, 70-80 unidentified people have been accused. Police have not arrested anyone so far. According to various sources, BNP, Jubadal, Chhatradal and anti-discrimination student movement leaders and activists started gathering at Zeropoint Railgate Bus Terminal in Ishradi with a one-sided demand for the fall of the Non-Cooperation Movement government.

At that time the leaders and activists of Awami League and affiliated organizations under the leadership of MP Ghalib obstructed and dispersed them. Meanwhile, in front of the West Tengri Kacharipara Eidgah in the city, a few Jubo League leaders and activists fired several rounds after seeing some youth party leaders and activists including Municipal Youth Party convener Zakir Hossain Jewell.

This created panic in the area. Meanwhile, the convener of Upazila Jubodal Rashedul Islam Ripon and activist Nazrul Islam were shot dead. As a result of this, the next morning on August 5, the angry youth-volunteer party leaders took out a protest march. During this time in the city Station Road Upazila Awami League office, Bangabandhu's mural and Upazila Jubo League and volunteers office at the post office intersection were vandalized by anti-discrimination and other leaders.

The convenor of Paur Jubodal, Zakir Hossain Jewel said, 'Those who have established a reign of terror in BNP stronghold Ishwardi for so long, have tortured hundreds of BNP leaders and activists with absentee cases, and those who fueled the attacks and killings to suppress the student movement, should be brought under the law. A case has been filed. More cases are being prepared.
