
Deer fawn rescued from Sundarbans

In Shyamnagar Upazila of Satkhira, the foresters of the Sundarbans West Forest Division’s Satkhira Range rescued a live deer fawn from a local resident’s pond nearly three kilometers away from the Sundarbans on Wednesday morning with the help of villagers from Talbaria village in Shyamnagar Upazila, the foresters of the Munsiganj Forest Patrol Post rescued and released the deer. Nirmal Kumar Mondal, OC of the Munsiganj Forest Patrol Post under the Satkhira Range of the Forest Division, said they were informed by villagers who had seen a live deer fawn floating in a pond. Immediately, several foresters arrived at the scene, brought the deer from the local area, provided initial treatment, and then released it back into the Sundarbans in the presence of the villagers. He added that the rescued deer is estimated to be around two years old and is a female. Monanjay Mondal, a resident of Talbaria village, said they spotted the deer floating in a pond in the morning and rescued it. After informing the Forest Division, the officials took the deer and released it into the Sundarbans.
