With the slogan "Drawn by roots, gathered by memories, let’s reunite in our beloved ground", the renowned educational institution Jahajmara High School in the island upazila of Hatia, Noakhali is celebrating its golden jubilee.

On Thursday (August 7), the official celebration began with a colorful ceremony held in the school premises. The event was inaugurated by the convener of the Golden Jubilee Celebration Committee, Taj Uddin Raful.

Marking 50 years since its founding, the celebration is being held on a large scale through the initiative and participation of former students. On the opening day, registration activities commenced with a rally and a discussion session.

The discussion session was presided over by Headmaster Abu Sulaiman, and attended by the convener of the celebration committee, Taj Uddin Raful; member secretary Mosharraf Hossain; teachers of the school; local dignitaries; and around 700 former and current students.

Before the registration began, a colorful rally was held, starting from the school field and parading through the main road of Jahajmara Bazar before returning to the school. Students held colorful placards in their hands while the golden jubilee theme song played over loudspeakers.

During the discussion, an outline of the various activities planned for the golden jubilee was presented. To ensure participation from alumni residing abroad and in Dhaka, three separate sub-committees have been formed in Dhaka, Chattogram, and Hatia. These committees will handle registration, magazine publication, fundraising, and organizing cultural programs featuring renowned artists of the country.

To facilitate participation from alumni residing in different parts of the country and abroad, an online registration system has also been launched, which will continue until October 30. The main celebration is tentatively scheduled to be held on the third or fourth day of Eid-ul-Fitr during the upcoming Ramadan.

Established in 1971, Jahajmara High School is one of the largest educational institutions in the southern region of Hatia. With 1,035 students currently enrolled, the school has become a symbol of educational prestige in the area through its contribution to education, culture, and social development.
