A man named Shipon (40), a butcher by profession, has been accused of killing his wife Laki Akhter (26) by strangulation and fleeing with their two children in Narayanganj. The incident occurred at around 11:30 PM on Monday at Fazlu Mia's residence in the Fatullah railway station area under Narayanganj Sadar Upazila. The deceased, Laki Akhter, was the daughter of Sattar Hawlader from Shwaneswar village in Bauphal Thana of Patuakhali.

 Shariful Islam, Officer-in-Charge of Fatullah Model Police Station, said that initial assumptions suggest the murder may have stemmed from a family dispute. However, the exact cause of death will be confirmed after the autopsy report is received. The body has been sent from Khanpur Hospital to the Narayanganj morgue for post-mortem examination. Attempts are underway to apprehend Shipon, and legal proceedings are currently in process, the OC added.

 Meanwhile, Imam Hossain, the nephew of the deceased Laki, stated that she married Shipon, a butcher from the Fatullah Bazaar area, out of love. They had a 10-year-old son and a 6-year-old daughter. Since their marriage, they had been living in a rented house owned by Fazlu Mia near the Fatullah railway station.

 On the night of the incident, Shipon called Laki's family and informed them that she had committed suicide by hanging. Upon arriving at the residence, her family found the door locked from the outside. After breaking the lock with the help of the landlord, they entered the room and discovered Laki's lifeless body with visible marks on her neck and face. Her body was partially covered with a bedsheet. She was rushed to Khanpur Hospital, where the emergency department doctor declared her dead. Imam Hossain confirmed that Shipon fled with the two children.
