Prevent the spread of mosquitoes, prevent dengue fever under this theme
A cleanliness drive and awareness rally were held in Goalanda, Rajbari, to prevent the spread of dengue nationwide and increase public awareness.

On Thursday at 10:30 am, a rally and cleanliness program was organized by the Goalanda Municipality at the 50-bed Upazila Health Complex Hospital.

The rally started from the Upazila Health Complex premises, circled the main road and then ended at the hospital premises.

According to Goalanda Municipality sources, in the 2025-2026 fiscal year, 268,000 taka has been allocated for dengue awareness, prevention of dengue mosquitoes, and keeping the city clean.

Meanwhile, visiting various areas of the city, it was observed that rainwater is accumulating on roads, near canals, and near government offices, creating a breeding ground for dengue mosquitoes.

Present at the meeting, chaired by UNO and Municipality Administrator Sathi Das, were Upazila Assistant Commissioner Land Md. Muntasir Hasan Khan, UHFPO Dr. Md. Maruf Hasan, Municipality Engineer Md. Ferdous Alam Khan, Municipality Secretary Md. Hemayet Hossain and others.

UHFPO Dr. Md. Maruf Hasan said, Aedes mosquitoes mainly lay eggs in clear and stagnant water. Therefore, we have to be extra careful during the monsoon season. He advised everyone to not neglect fever and quickly come to the nearest government hospital to get tested for dengue.

UNO Sathi Das said, "Government initiatives alone are not enough to prevent dengue, it requires spontaneous awareness from every citizen. If we can keep our own yards clean, it is possible to prevent the spread of Aedes mosquitoes, the carriers of dengue."

After the rally, a cleanliness drive was conducted by cleaning the hospital premises and surrounding jungle, stagnant water, and garbage in the presence of health complex officials, employees, and local residents.
