
Noakhali polythene factory raided, fined 6 lakh taka

A mobile court conducted a raid on an illegal polythene factory in Begumganj, Noakhali and imposed a fine of 6 lakh 50 thousand taka. 14 thousand 179 kg of banned polythene and raw materials were seized in the raid.
The raid was conducted on the godown of Bablu Packaging in Chaumuhani Hawkers Market and the Ripon Packaging shopping bag manufacturing factory on Bank Road on Sunday (August 17) around noon.
According to the mobile court sources, the mobile court conducted a raid on the godown of Bablu Packaging in Chaumuhani Hawkers Market and the Ripon Packaging polythene shopping bag manufacturing factory on Bank Road around noon. During the raid, the owner of the Ripon Packaging factory was fined 6 lakh taka and the representative of Bablu Packaging was fined 50 thousand taka under the Environmental Protection Act for manufacturing banned polythene. At the same time, the fine was immediately collected. In addition, 200 kg of raw materials for making polythene from Ripon Packaging and 13,979 kg of banned polythene and raw materials were seized from the godown of Bablu Packaging.
The operation was conducted by Assistant Commissioner and Executive Magistrate of Noakhali District Administration Md. Fahim Hasan Khan. Also present in the operation were RAB-11, CPC-3, Noakhali Senior Assistant Police Super Company Commander (Acting) Mithun Kumar Kundu, Deputy Director of the Noakhali District Office of the Department of Environment Mihir Lal Sardar, etc.
