Student coordinators and local protesters in Barguna have demanded a comprehensive reinvestigation into the government gazette of July uprising victims, alleging that several individuals listed as injured "July fighters" have no actual connection to the movement.

According to student leaders, individuals injured in personal disputes or unrelated incidents have secured official recognition by utilizing hospital records from the mass uprising period, thereby undermining genuine participants.

Following the July–August 2024 mass uprising, the interim government published gazettes recognizing 10 martyrs in Barguna, alongside 104 injured individuals on March 4, 2025, and an additional five on July 25, 2025. However, the accuracy of the roster has faced persistent local scrutiny.

Local investigations highlighted specific entries, including Suman Mridha (Serial 317) and Mohammad Mortuza (Serial 303). While locals and student activists claim both were injured in unrelated personal disputes or local clashes—noting that no major confrontations occurred in those specific areas on the dates claimed—the accused individuals have strongly denied the allegations, maintaining they were attacked by Awami League and Jubo League cadres while participating in movement-related processions.

Frontline student organizers, including former coordinators Muhid Hasan Niloy and Md. Rezaul Karim, stated that many individuals currently recognized as injured fighters are unrecognized by core participants of the protests, warning that fraudulent claims dilute the sacrifice of genuine victims.

Barguna Deputy Commissioner Miz Taslima Akhter said, the district administration has not yet received formal written complaints, but assured that appropriate investigative measures will be initiated upon receiving a formal petition.
