Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed has said that two army camps will be set up in the hills of Ukhia and Teknaf in Cox's Bazar to prevent kidnappings.

He said that at the same time, a list of drug smugglers and drug dealers who are the main culprits will be prepared.

He made this statement after a meeting on drug prevention and law and order development in Cox's Bazar held at Sakirt House on Thursday night.

He said, "To eradicate drugs, joint force camps will be set up on drug trafficking roads and patrols by the Navy and Coast Guard will be strengthened on the sea routes. Closed circuit cameras will be fully installed in the Rohingya camps. Those involved in drugs inside the camps will also be identified."

Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed told the media after a meeting organized by the Cox's Bazar district administration that fishermen and watercraft in Ukhia and Teknaf will be registered. Watercraft on the sea route will be controlled through 11 towers.

He commented that everyone knows that Cox's Bazar is a drug smuggling route. Yaba is smuggled across the country through this Cox's Bazar route. Drug prevention and control are among the government's priority tasks.

MP Shah Jahan Chowdhury, MP Alhaj Alamgir Md. Mahfuz Ullah Farid, female MP Advocate Shamim Ara Swapna, Cox's Bazar Development Authority Chairman Engineer Jasim Uddin, Cox's Bazar District Council Administrator ATM Nurul Bashar Chowdhury, Cox's Bazar Deputy Commissioner Md. A. Mannan, Cox's Bazar Superintendent of Police ANM Sajedur Rahman and heads of government departments of the district were present at the meeting.
