
Storytelling, discussion meeting on July Martyrs' Day in Kamalganj

'July Martyrs' Day' was celebrated for the first time in Kamalganj, Moulvibazar to commemorate the July Uprising. On the occasion of the day, a storytelling and discussion meeting was organized by the Kamalganj Upazila Administration at 11 am on Wednesday.
On July 16 last year, Abu Sayeed, a student of Begum Rokeya University in Rangpur, was martyred in police firing while participating in the anti-quota movement in government jobs. After that, people from all over the country erupted. 'July Martyrs' Day' is being celebrated to commemorate the day.
In a notification issued by the Cabinet Division on July 2, it was said that the government has announced that July 16 will be observed as 'July Martyrs' Day' every year. On the occasion of the day, in the conference room of Kamalganj Upazila Parishad, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Makhon Chandra Sutra Dhar presided over the discussion and July story telling under the guidance of Project Implementation Officer Plabon Pal, Kamalganj Upazila Jamaat Islam Ameer Md. Masuk Mia, Agriculture Officer Jayanta Kumar Roy, Primary Education Officer Saiful Islam, Journalist Nirmal S. Palash, Anti-Discrimination Movement Representative Kamrul Islam Khan, Jalal Ahmed Abed, Bhuiyan Rajan Reza and others participated in the discussion and July story telling.
At this time, Kamalganj Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. Mahbubul Alam Bhuiyan, Family Planning Officer Md. Maruf Hossain, Upazila Fisheries Officer Shaidur Rahman, Cooperative Officer Chalik Ahmed Bhuiyan, Ansar VDP Officer Shamsun Nahar, students and political figures from various educational institutions, people from different classes and professions were present.
