
Programmes held at DU halls on first anniv of historic July Uprising

Various programs were held at various residential halls of Dhaka University on Tuesday to mark the first anniversary of the historic July Uprising.
On this occasion, Vice Chancellor of Dhaka University Prof Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan was present as the chief guest at the event organized at Bijoy Ekattor Hall.
In addition, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Admin) Professor Dr. Saima Haque Bidisha spoke as the chief guest at the event organized at Dr. Muhammad Shahidullah Hall.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan inaugurated the 'July Memorial Garden' at Bijoy Ekattor Hall. Hall Principal Professor Dr. S. M. Ali Reza, Proctor Associate Professor Saifuddin Ahmed and the resident teachers and students of the hall were present at the time.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan told the students that the mentality of moving forward with all of society should be maintained. He expressed deep respect to all those who participated in the uprising. The Vice-Chancellor said that on that day, people from all walks of life from different parts of the country took to the field against injustice. Students should work for the development of the country and the university by remembering their sacrifice. The potential created through the uprising to build a new Bangladesh should be utilized.
A program titled 'A Unique Chapter of Revolution and Protest: Remembering July' was organized at Dr. Muhammad Shahidullah Hall. Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Professor Dr. Saima Haque Bidisha spoke as the chief guest at the program. Later, she inaugurated the 'July Resistance Courtyard' in the hall.
The function was presided over by the Hall Principal, Professor Dr. Md. Aminul Islam Bhuiyan, while the Dean of the Faculty of Biology, Professor Dr. Md. Enamul Haque, spoke as the special guest. The hall's resident teachers and students were present.
Pro-Vice Chancellor (Admin) Prof Dr. Saima Haque Bidisha said, "We have got a new Bangladesh through the July mass uprising under the leadership of fearless youth. We have to work to ensure a better future for the new generation." In this regard, she highlighted various initiatives of the university.
In addition, the first anniversary of the July Uprising was celebrated through various programs including discussions, memorial services, and exhibitions at Amar Ekushey Hall.
