The inspection team inspected the initial potential area for acquiring 20 acres of abandoned Khas land out of 100 acres of Char Kalagachhi area of Mahipur Mouza of Laxmitari Union on the banks of Teesta River in Gangachara Upazila with the aim of constructing a state-of-the-art hospital with financial assistance from China. In view of this, the Chinese delegation will later inspect this excellent area for the construction of the proposed world-class 1,000-bed hospital.
Gangachara UNO Mahmud Hasan Mridha told reporters that a Chinese delegation has already inspected the potential area of Char with the aim of constructing a state-of-the-art hospital in this area with financial assistance from China to ensure health services for the people of the northern part of the country, including those affected by river erosion.
If this is implemented, on the one hand, it will open a huge door to health services for the people of this region. On the other hand, a large number of neglected groups will benefit. To this end, the Chinese authorities have adopted a plan to build a world-class 1,000-bed hospital in the Rangpur division. Considering the geographical location and divisional headquarters, the proposed hospital has been decided to be built in the Char Kalagachi area of Mahipur Mouza, Laxmitari Union, Gangachara Upazila, Rangpur district.
The Chinese authorities will gift this state-of-the-art hospital to Bangladesh as a symbol of the 50th anniversary of China-Bangladesh friendship.
For this, this 1,000-bed state-of-the-art hospital will be built in the Teesta Master Plan implementation project area with financial assistance from China, said Nurjahan Begum, Advisor to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, at a press conference organized at the Foreign Service Academy in Dhaka on April 13.
