10 DCs among 179 promoted to joint secretaries

The government has executed a major administrative reshuffle, promoting a total of 179 Deputy Secretaries to the rank of Joint Secretary. Among the promoted officials are the Deputy Commissioners (DCs) of 10 major districts across the country.

The Ministry of Public Administration issued two separate notifications to announce the promotions on Thursday. The first circular detailed the promotion of 172 field-level and secretariat-based Deputy Secretaries to Joint Secretary. A subsequent notification announced the promotion of an additional seven Deputy Secretaries currently serving on diplomatic assignments across various international embassies, high commissions, and foreign missions.

The 10 promoted Deputy Commissioners include Md. Nurul Karim Bhuiyan of Gazipur, Abu Saleh Md. Musa Jangi of Chapainawabganj, Kazi Shahidul Islam of Rajshahi, Mohammad Nayiruzzaman of Nilphamari, and Farida Khanm of Dhaka.

The list also features Sharifa Haque of Tangail, Tahsina Begum of Shariatpur, Mohammad Jahidul Islam Miah of Chattogram, Motakabbir Ahmed of Magura, and Mohammad Shahid Hossain Chowdhury, the Deputy Commissioner of Patuakhali. Following their promotions to the tier of Joint Secretary, these officials will remain in their current posts until further administrative reassignment orders are issued.
