
Advocacy campaign by ESDO in Barishal

An advocacy campaign, organized by the Eco-Social Development Organization (ESDO) with the support of UNICEF in Barishal on Sunday, at 11:00 AM in the conference room of SAINT Bangladesh on C&B Road.
The chief guest was Lusikant Hajong, Additional District Commissioner (General), Barishal. Special guests included A.K.M. Akhtaruzzaman Talukder, Deputy Director of the Social Services Office, Barishal; Meherun Nahar Munni, Deputy Director of the Women’s Affairs Directorate, Barishal; Prince Bahauddin Talukder, Deputy Director of the Directorate, Barishal; and Anwar Hossain, Chief Field Officer of UNICEF, Barishal.
ESDO is tirelessly working for marginalized communities, operating in 408 upazilas across 53 districts. In Barishal, activities are ongoing in Sadar, Muladi, Mehendiganj, and Bhola upazilas. The organization focuses on providing training and employment opportunities for women aged 15-24, selected based on criteria such as school dropouts, early marriage, and divorce, in consultation with local communities and government officials. ESDO targets disadvantaged and vulnerable populations at the grassroots level, offering skill development training, fostering entrepreneurship, assessing demand, enhancing skills, and ensuring follow-up support.
In Barishal Sadar, 1,260 individuals, in Muladi, 225, and in Mehendiganj, 60 have received training. To date, 615 individuals have been provided with employment opportunities. Most recently, a job fair was organized, resulting in employment for 117 participants.
