Abu Hasan, General Secretary of Upazila BNP, has been allegedly attempting to strangle the President of the Pirpal Mosque Committee of Daharpur village in Adamdighi Sadar Union of Bogra on Saturday.
In this incident, Mosque Committee President Abdul Hamid filed a complaint with Adamdighi Police Station, naming 12 people, including Abu Hasan and Chhatra Dal Senior Vice President Shaon.
The mosque committee members expressed their anger over the lack of legal action even after two days of the incident. The incident took place inside the Pirpal Mosque in Purbapara Mahalla of Daharpur village in Sadar Union of Adamdighi Upazila on Friday, the day of Jumma prayers.
According to the complaint, there had been a long-standing dispute between the two parties over the Pirpal Mosque Committee of Purba Para Mohalla of Daharpur village in Sadar Union of Adamdighi Upazila. On March 16 of this year, the court ruled that Abdul Hamid was appointed as the president. He will manage the mosque ex officio. In continuation of this, a full committee was announced at the mosque on Friday, the 20th of this month. Then, on Friday (June 27), during a discussion on the committee's accounts inside the mosque on Friday prayers, Upazila BNP General Secretary Abu Hasan and his three sons and a few others started arguing with the committee members on various issues. At one point, Abu Hasan grabbed the mosque president Abdul Hamid by the throat with both hands and tried to strangle him. When Jahidul, a mosque worshipper, came forward to protect him, Abu Hasan's second son Nastain stabbed him in the chest with a knife he had with him. When Jahidul reached out, his hand was seriously injured. As he was bleeding profusely, he was first admitted to Adamdighi Upazila Health Complex. Later, he was transferred to Bogra Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment. At that time, when Abu Hasan's people tried to hit Musalli Lokman Ali on the head with Shafiqul's knife, he was seriously injured when he pushed him with his right hand and cut his finger. Then, Abu Hasan's people and the people of the mosque committee started a fierce fight. Many were seriously injured in this. Later, they were admitted to Adamdighi Upazila Health Complex in their injured state.
In this incident, President Abdul Hamid, on behalf of the mosque committee, filed a complaint with the police station, naming 12 people including Upazila BNP General Secretary Abu Hasan, his son Chhatra Dal Senior Vice President Shaon, Nastain Adamdighi Sadar Union Ward No. 1 Jubo League Organizing Secretary Mofazzal, Ward A'League Organizing Secretary Saiful Islam, Office Secretary Ujjal.
In this regard, Upazila BNP General Secretary Abu Hasan said, "This is not the case. The president of this mosque committee was Upazila A'League President Sirajul Islam Khan Raju. Since he is not in the area, Abdul Hamid has taken over the responsibility. He has not been able to give an account of any mosque for the last 17 years. When he was about to be beaten up during an argument with the Muslims on this issue, my son saved him. Regarding the bloodshed, he said, "Many people may have had their hands cut off by the window in the crowd. I and my sons are being intentionally implicated in this incident."
Adamdighi Police Station OC Mostafizur Rahman said, Mosque Committee President Abdul Hamid has filed a written complaint regarding the incident. Legal action will be taken after a proper investigation into the incident.
