Babul with wife, daughter murdered in Rome, 3 bodies brought in Noakhali

Noakhali Correspondent

The bodies of three Bangladeshis from the same family from Companiganj, Noakhali, who were brutally murdered in the Italian capital of Rome, have arrived in the country.

Their bodies arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport around 8 am on Friday (August 14). The funeral will be held at the Shishu Niketan Government Primary School grounds in Ward No. 5 of Charkankara Union of Companiganj Upazila after Maghrib prayers on the same day. Later, they will be buried in the family graveyard.

The deceased were identified as Kamal Uddin Babul (39), a resident of Ward No. 5 of Charkankara Union, his wife (38), and their five-year-old daughter Arwa Islam Arisha. The family's only son, Ayan, was seriously injured in the same incident. He will reach Pram's house with the body on Friday afternoon to attend the funeral and burial.

According to family sources, Kamal Uddin Babul, his wife and daughter were stabbed to death in an apartment in Via Montilio, Casalotti, near Rome, Italy, on the night of June 26. After receiving information from neighbors, the police went to the scene and recovered the bodies of the three. Their son Ayan was rescued in a serious condition and admitted to the local Gemelli Polyclinic Hospital. The first funeral of the three victims was held at Piazza Ormea, Casalotti, Rome, at 6:30 pm local time on August 11, Italy. After that, their bodies were sent to Bangladesh.

Advocate Yunus, cousin of the deceased Babul, said that they came to know about the murder through their relatives in Italy. When Babul came to the country, he used to mix with everyone sincerely and take part in various social activities. They are speechless at such a brutal incident. He expressed surprise that Shahadat, the accused in the incident, has not yet been brought to justice.

Meanwhile, Italian police are continuing their investigation to uncover the cause of the murder. Family sources said that various evidence is being collected from the scene and those involved are being questioned.

It is worth noting that on July 2, 2025, a flying letter was found in front of their house in Charkankara Union in the name of an alleged bandit group called 'Lal Bahini'. The relatives alleged that the letter demanded money and gold ornaments from the family and threatened to kill their sons and grandchildren and torture the female members if the demands were not met.
