Plantation, campus cleaning programme at DU

A program titled "Tree Plantation and Clean Campus Campaign" initiated by the Dhaka University Environment Society was held on Friday at the Mall adjacent to the Vice-Chancellor's residence. Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. ABM Obaidul Islam inaugurated the program as the chief guest.
The inaugural ceremony was presided over by Dhaka University Environment Council Chief Advisor Prof Dr. Mohammad Jasim Uddin, with Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education) Prof Dr. Abdus Salam as special guest, and Chairman of the Department of Soil, Water and Environment Professor Dr. AHM Zulfiqar Ali, Chairman of the Department of Botany Prof Dr. Asfaq Ahmed, Chairman of the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) ATM Abdul Bari Danny, and Senior Joint Convener of the Environment Council M Abu Rafi speaking.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. ABM Obaidul Islam emphasized on planting more indigenous species of trees to combat the increasing pollution in Dhaka city and said, not only planting trees, but also ensuring proper care and conservation of trees.
