BGB seized Indian cosmetics worth Tk 9 lakh in Sherpur border

The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has seized smuggled Indian cosmetics worth approximately Tk 9 lakh along the border in Sribardi upazila, Sherpur, marking the second such seizure in the area within a span of four days.
The operation was conducted early Tuesday morning in the Chandapara area under Singhabruna union of the upazila. No smugglers were detained during the raid, though efforts to apprehend them are underway. Earlier on Friday morning BGB members from the Karnajhora border outpost had seized Indian cosmetics worth Tk 18 lakh.
According to BGB sources, personnel from the Karnajhora BOP of the BGB Mymensingh Sector 39 Battalion carried out the raid in the Chandapara area acting on a tip-off. The market value of the seized cosmetics has been estimated at Tk 8,49,440.
Lt. Col. Md. Nurul Azim Bayezid, commanding officer, stated that acting on confidential information, the Tuesday dawn raid was conducted in the Chandapara border area as smugglers attempted to smuggle various types of Indian cosmetics into Bangladesh.
