Woman hacked to death in Chandina land dispute

A woman was allegedly hacked to death with a sharp weapon at Borkait Shil Bari in Borkait union of Chandina upazila on Tuesday night.
The victim, who was alone at home between 8:00 PM and 9:00 PM while her husband was away, sustained critical head injuries. She was rushed to Cumilla Medical College Hospital, where doctors on duty declared her dead.
While locals alleged that the attack may have stemmed from a longstanding dispute over land with a neighbouring household, police have not yet confirmed the exact motive or identified the suspects.
A team from Chandina Police Station visited the scene to launch an initial investigation, gathering evidence and examining potential movements around the house. Investigators are working to determine whether the killing was premeditated or linked to prior enmity, while local residents have demanded a swift probe and justice for the perpetrators.
