
BRAC's Cleaning Campaign held in Sandwip Municipality

To increase health awareness of the local people and protect the environment, the National Malaria Eradication and AIDS-Borne Disease Control Program, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, and BRAC Health Program's Climate Change and Health Project organized the BRAC Cleaning Campaign 2025 in Sandwip Municipality to reduce the impact of mosquito-borne diseases such as dengue and chikungunya, eliminate mosquito breeding grounds, and create awareness among the community about mosquito-borne diseases.
This campaign was inaugurated by Saiful Islam, Accounts Officer of the Municipality on behalf of the Municipal Administrator, in collaboration with Sandwip Municipality on Wednesday.
Keeping in mind the slogan "Keep your environment clean, stay dengue-free", the participants carried out cleaning activities in the municipal market area with masks on their faces, gloves on their hands, baskets and other equipment.
At this time, BRAC's Climate Change and Health Officer Ferdousi Akhter, BRAC Health Project Program Officer Monir Hossain, environmentally conscious Dr. Kazi Nurul Absar, journalist Badal Roy Swadhin discussed the activities of the project in detail.
Among others, former Sonali Bank officer Md. Zafar Ullah, Qari Fakhrul Islam, Yubadal leader Sharifuzzaman Shimul, along with the municipality's sanitation workers and the general public of the area participated in the cleaning activity.
The speakers said that this initiative will play an important role in protecting the environment and creating health awareness. The organizers said that such programs will be conducted every three months, so they called on people from all walks of life to join it.
