Cheques worth Tk 8.6 m distributed to road accident victims in Joypurhat

The government has stood by the victims of road accidents in rehabilitation and assistance. A total of 8.6 million taka of grant checks have been distributed from the financial assistance fund of the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) Board of Trustees to the families and heirs of those killed and seriously injured in various road accidents in Joypurhat district.
The money was formally handed over to the beneficiaries and their designated heirs at a ceremony held at the Joypurhat District Commissioner's conference room on Thursday afternoon. The huge amount of grant was distributed in an orderly manner among a total of 24 affected families.
Presided over by Joypurhat Deputy Commissioner Al Mamun Mia, State Minister for Public Administration and Food Abdul Bari, who was present as the chief guest at the event, handed over assistance checks to the family members of the victims.
The Superintendent of Police was present as a special guest at the event.
Shahnaz Begum, District Council Administrator and District BNP Senior Joint Convener Masud Rana Pradhan, District BNP Convener Golzar Hossain, BRTA Joypurhat Circle Inspector Ram Krishna Poddar, senior administration officials, political figures, local dignitaries and family members who received financial assistance were present.
It was informed at the ceremony that cheques of Tk 5 lakh were given to each family of those killed in road accidents from the trust fund formed under the Road Transport Act, and Tk 1 lakh to Tk 3 lakh were given for the treatment of the general injured.
