
Coast Guard detained 8 deer poachers with vension, crabs in Sundarbans

Bangladesh Coast Guard has detained eight deer poachers in Sundarbans’ Harbaria area with 13.5 kg of deer meat and 18 kg of illegal crabs.
Lieutenant Rafid-as-Sami, Media Officer of the Coast Guard, provided this information on Thursday night.
The press release stated that based on confidential information, a special operation was conducted by Coast Guard Station Harbaria on Thursday, 14 August 2025, at 6:00 pm in the area adjacent to Dighir Khal in Sundarbans’ Harbaria. During the operation, authorities seized 13.5 kg of deer meat, 1 deer head, 4 deer legs, 1 deer trap net, 18 kg of illegal crabs, 5 liters of poison, and 2 boats, and arrested eight members of a gang involved in deer and illegal crab hunting.
The seized deer meat, crabs, poison, trap net, boats, and other evidence, along with the arrested individuals, were handed over to Chandpai Forest Office for further legal action.
The Coast Guard will continue such operations in the future to protect Sundarbans by preventing wildlife killing and trafficking, the press release added.
