Residents of Patnitala in Naogaon have demanded the urgent repair of the paved Agradiun Road in Madhail Bazar due to its deplorable condition. Even light rain causes the road to become submerged, and the nearly half-kilometer stretch, riddled with potholes, has led to extreme public suffering.
Belal Hossain, President of the Madhail Bazar Traders Welfare Association, stated, "In this agriculture-dependent area, the current rice market is the largest in the upazila. Yet, this road remains neglected."
Sohel Rana Sweet, Joint General Secretary of the Madhail Bazar Traders Welfare Association, said, "The season for transporting rice and mangoes has begun. Due to the lack of attention from authorities, both transport operators and the general public are facing immense difficulties. Mangoes from our area attract wholesale buyers from across the country, but the poor condition of the road is causing suffering for everyone."
Local trader Shahin remarked, "It’s not just vehicles; school and college students have to navigate this muddy, rain-soaked road during the monsoon, facing significant risks."
Abdul Gafur, General Secretary of the Patnitala Upazila Committee of Nirapad Sarak Chai (We Demand Safe Roads), emphasized, "Repairing this road promptly is crucial to ensuring safe roads."
Upazila Engineer Imtiaz Zahirul Haque stated, "Decisions regarding the repair of the road will be prioritized."
Patnitala UNO Md. Alimuzzaman Milan added, "Efforts will be made to draw the attention of the relevant authorities to repair the road swiftly.
