Despite passing written, viva  primary teacher candidate missed appointment letter due to ‘address discrepancy’

Jhenaidah Correspondent:

Mission Acharya (31), a resident of the Kalabagan area in Jhenaidah town, has not received his appointment letter despite passing both the written and oral examinations for the post of assistant teacher in government primary schools. The District Primary Education Office stated that his recruitment process has been temporarily suspended due to a discrepancy found during the verification of his permanent address.

Mission Acharya resides in the Kalabagan area of Ward No. 6 in Jhenaidah town. He claims that he listed the Kalabagan address as both his current and permanent address in his application and has been living there for a long time.

Mission’s mother, Moyna Acharya, stated that she has lived in the Kalabagan area for over 45 years. She was married there, and her two children were born there. She added that the family members' NID  cards also list the Kalabagan address.

Moyna said that after her husband left, she raised her two children by working in private homes and educational institutions. She struggled greatly to fund her younger son Mission's education. She is now disheartened that her son did not receive an appointment letter despite passing the government job examinations.

Local resident Russell Hossain said that Mission pursued his education through great hardship. He had heard that Mission had previously passed the written and oral stages of other government job exams but was excluded during the verification process.

Mission’s elder brother, Shailen Acharya, said that after Mission passed the primary teacher recruitment exam, officials from the police and the NSI (National Security Intelligence) visited their home to collect information. Despite providing the necessary details, Mission’s roll number did not appear in the final results.

Mission Acharya completed his SSC in Commerce from Jhenaidah Kanchan Nagar School in 2010, his HSC in Humanities from Shishukunja School and College, and both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Finance and Banking from Islamic University.

Jhenaidah District Primary Education Officer (Acting) Md. Amjad Hossain said, “It is not the case that the young man has been excluded. His recruitment process has been temporarily suspended because his address could not be verified. Information regarding him—including land deeds—has been collected and forwarded to the Directorate. I hope the Directorate will consider the matter.
