The road in front of Manda Upazila Parishad was flooded with dirty water from the drain after a little rain. Traders and locals alleged that such a situation has arisen due to dirty water from the drain rising onto the road. The locals demanded that the concerned authorities take measures to repair the drain as soon as possible and relieve the suffering.
Families living in the area complain that whenever it rains, sewage from the drains overflows onto the road, preventing them from going out. Many times, they are forced to walk through the water.
Local businessman Kamrul Islam said the situation is due to the unplanned construction of the drainage system. If it is not repaired quickly, the situation will worsen during the monsoon.
Manda Upazila Press Club Vice President Apel Mahmud said, "During the rains, the road has become unusable due to dirty water from drains rising onto the road. Such a situation has arisen due to the indifference of the concerned authorities. We hope that it will be repaired soon."
Locals have complained that despite the authorities repeatedly bringing the issue to their attention, no action has been taken. This has forced the locals to live an unbearable life.
Upazila Engineer Md. Abu Sayed said that steps have been taken to drain the road in front of the Upazila Parishad. The work will start soon.
