Among the rickshaw, van, nachiman and auto drivers suffering from intense heat and heat, the mayor of Goalando Municipality and the President of the. unicipal Awami League Md. Nazrul Islam Mandal has distributed towels, drinking water and saline.

The program started on Wednesday (May 1st) noon at Goalando bus stand and Paur Jamtla.

Churap Sheikh, the van driver, said that he had to come out for workEven though it is very difficult to drive our van in this scorching heat, we have to go out in the urgent need of livelihood. He welcomed such an exceptional initiative of the Municipal Mayor and was very relieved to drink saline and water.

Municipal Mayor Md. Nazrul Islam Mandal said, severe heatwave has been increasing for several days. People are fed up with the heat. Especially the daily wage earners are in dire straits. When they go out on the street, they are thirsty in the heat. This can lead to heatstroke. So keeping them in mind, saline and fresh water to keep the body cool and a towel to wipe off the sweat have been distributed. He also said that the road temperature is being reduced by water in different parts of the city. Until it rains, this work will continue on behalf of the municipality.

Upazila Nirbahi Officer Joti Bikas Chandra said that low-income people including day laborers, rickshaw drivers and laborers are working to earn income in the heat of the day. With their support, Goalando Municipality stood by with a towel, water and saline. I applaud them for this initiative. He called upon the members of the society to stand by the helpless until it rains.
