Elderly woman found dead with throat slit in Kalia, panic grips area

Police recovered the body of an elderly woman with her throat slit at her residence in Bendarchar village of Kalia upazila in Narail on Sunday afternoon.
The deceased was identified as Hajera Begum, 70, wife of the late Haji Nur Mia Sheikh of the same village. According to locals, the incident took place at 1:00 PM on May 25.
Her tragic and brutal death has left family members and locals in shock. Grief and anguish gripped the area, and the Kalia Upazila Health Complex was soon filled with the wails of her devastated relatives.
Confirming the incident, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kalia Police Station Abdullah Al Mamun told the media that the body has been sent to Narail Sadar Hospital for autopsy. “Further details will be available once the post-mortem report is received and the investigation progresses,” he added.
The incident has triggered widespread panic and concern in the locality. Police have launched an investigation to identify and apprehend those responsible for the killing, according to sources at the police station.
