
Indian cigarettes worth Tk 3.96 lakh seized in Longadu im 37 BGB operation

Rajnagar Battalion 37 BGB Zone has seized 1,980 packets of illegal cigarettes illegally brought from India in Baghaichhari Upazila of Rangamati under the jurisdiction of Rajnagar Battalion 37 BGB Zone.
On Friday (May 16) night, based on intelligence information, it was learned that smugglers had stored a large quantity of Indian cigarettes in a house in Purba Charuakhali, in the area under the responsibility of Charuakhali BGB Camp under Rajnagar Battalion (37 BGB) for smuggling.
Based on the said information, a BGB patrol team conducted a special operation at that place under the direction of Rajnagar Battalion (37 BGB) Commander Lt. Col. Nahid Hasan.
During the operation conducted, the patrol team seized 1,980 packets of Indian cigarettes abandoned at that place. The market value of which is 3 lakh 96 thousand taka. The process of depositing the seized cigarettes at Chittagong Customs is under process.
In this regard, the Commander, Rajnagar Battalion (37 BGB) said that no goods will be allowed to enter and market through smuggling by evading customs. He also said that as per the instructions of the higher authorities, the BGB's operational activities and intelligence activities for border security and prevention of smuggling are continuing in full swing.
The ongoing operations against smuggling will continue and will be further strengthened in the future.
