A madrasa student was stabbed to death by another student in Madhabpur, Habiganj over a trivial incident.
The incident took place at 11 am on Tuesday (August 26) at Alhaj Yamin Faisal Darul Quran Hafiziya Madrasa in Itakhola village of Noapara union of the upazila. According to police and local sources, during an argument between student Md. Ehsanul Haque Nabil (13) and another student Mohammad Ashraful Islam Rafi (8) near the madrasa kitchen over a trivial matter, Ehsanul Haque Nabil stabbed Ashraful Islam Rafi several times with a knife used to cut onions, peppers and other vegetables in the madrasa kitchen. Ashraful Islam Rafi died on the spot.
The deceased was identified as Mohammad Ashraful Islam Rafi, son of Aminul Islam of Chapartala village in Nasirnagar upazila of Brahmanbaria district.
Md. Ehsanul Haque Nabil is the son of Md. Helal Mia of Shahpur village in Noapara union of Madhabpur upazila. Upon receiving the information, a team of Madhabpur police recovered the body and brought it to the police station. Madhabpur police station inspector (investigation) Md. Kabir Hossain confirmed the truth and said that the accused Md. Ehsanul Haque Nabil has been arrested.
The body will be sent to Habiganj Sadar Hospital for autopsy. A case is under process of registration in this regard.
