Police have reported significant progress in the investigation into the murder of Shahriar Alam Samy, a brilliant student of Dhaka University’s Institute of Education and Research. They will soon submit the investigation report.

Senior law enforcement officials shared this information during a meeting with Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan on Sunday.
During the meeting, Dhaka University Proctor Associate Professor Saifuddin Ahmed, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Ramna Division Deputy Police Commissioner (DC) Md. Masud Alam, Assistant Police Commissioner (Patrol) Md. Amzad Hossain, and Shahbagh Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Khalid Monsur were present.
The police stated that, in the interest of further investigation, it is not possible to disclose all the progress made so far. In addition to those arrested, several others have been interrogated based on the information provided by them. The names of a few more individuals have emerged during these interrogations, and operations to apprehend them are ongoing.
It is mentioned that, following Samy’s murder, Dhaka University administration has been actively working to ensure justice and strengthen campus security measures. To this end, the administration is maintaining continuous communication with relevant authorities.
