The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has recovered six foreign-made pistols, seven magazines, and 22 rounds of ammunition buried underground in a remote and densely forested area of the Satchari Reserve Forest in Chunarughat upazila.

The arms cache was discovered during a special operation conducted in the early hours of Thursday under the jurisdiction of the Satchari Border Outpost (BOP).

According to the Habiganj Battalion (55 BGB), acting on a tip-off, a special operational team led by Habiganj Battalion Commander Lieutenant Colonel Md. Tanzilur Rahman carried out the raid. The team searched a rugged, hilly, and densely forested area located approximately three kilometers inside Bangladesh territory from border pillar 1978. During the sweep, they uncovered weapons and ammunition concealed and buried underground.

BGB officials suspect that criminals had stashed the firearms and ammunition in the remote area to utilize them in robberies, terrorist activities, or other cross-border crimes. Identities of those involved in hiding the arms have not yet been confirmed.

The recovered weapons and ammunition are being processed for formal inventory listing before being handed over to the local police station. Meanwhile, intelligence surveillance and operations remain active to identify and apprehend the perpetrators linked to the hidden cache.

Highlighting the force's ongoing security efforts, Habiganj-55 BGB Battalion Commander Lieutenant Colonel Md. Tanzilur Rahman said,
