Moulvibazar Correspondent

To commemorate the 25th anniversary of Bangladesh receiving Test cricket status, a cricket carnival for under-12 players was organized under the management of the Cricket Board and hosted by the Moulvibazar District Sports Association. The event took place on Monday at the M. Saifur Rahman Stadium in Moulvibazar.

This day-long six-a-side cricket tournament featured six teams: Padma, Meghna, Yamuna, Karnaphuli, Buriganga, and Surma. A total of 48 young cricketers participated.

Under the supervision of district cricket coach Rezwan Mazumdar Rumon, the tournament concluded with an exciting final match where the Meghna team defeated the Buriganga team by 1 wicket, earning the championship title.

At the end of the event, prizes were awarded to the winning and participating teams by the District Sports Officer and Member Secretary of the District Sports Association, Mazharul Majid. Present at the ceremony were members of the District Sports Association’s ad-hoc committee, Sabbir Ahmed Chowdhury and Nazrul Islam Muhib, along with district BNP convener member and sports enthusiast Monowar Ahmed Rahman, Hanif Mohammad Khan, Niaz, Inamul Haque Ripon, and Sipon Ahmed, among others.

Each participating young cricketer was awarded a commemorative crest. Bangladesh, as the 10th nation to gain Test status on June 26, 2000, played its first Test match against India in Dhaka in 2000.
