Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and Leader of the Opposition in the National Parliament , said, "We are indebted to the people of Rangpur for overthrowing the previous fascist Awami government."

 He said this at a conference of various Upazila/Thanas of the Rangpur- Dinajpur region of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islam organized at the local Model College in Rangpur.on Friday. 

 The conference was presided over by Maulana Abdul Halim, Central Assistant Secretary General of Jamaat-e-Islami Bangladesh and Director of Rangpur- Dinajpur Region. Maulana Momtaz Uddin, Assistant Director of Rangpur-Dinajpur Region, Rangpur-Dinajpur Region Team Member Professor Mahbubur Rahman Belal MP, Jamaat-supported members of parliament from various constituencies in Rangpur Region and Jamaat leaders of various classes were present at the conference.

The Jamaat Ameer of Rangpur paid tribute to Shaheed Abu Sayeed, the pride of Shaheed Abu Sayeed and said that the fascist government's farewell journey began with the martyrdom of Shaheed Abu Sayeed and finally the people of this country were saved from the hands of the past fascists. For this, he prayed for the forgiveness of the soul of Shaheed Abu Sayeed.

The Jamaat Ameer said, “In the last parliamentary elections, the people of this country voted for Jamaat with love. Even those who opposed Jamaat in the past voted for us with love. We are indebted to them.”

He told the assembled Upazila /Thana presidents that they have to work like a searchlight in this region. He said that we have to have good character so that people are inspired by us. He added that we have to go to the people with a heart full of compassion for the expansion of the organization in this region. In this regard, the fear of Allah must be nurtured in our hearts.

He urged everyone to play a strong role in establishing honest leadership at every level in the upcoming local government elections.
