BNP is holding a huge protest procession-rally in Gafargaon to protest killings, anarchy, murder, attacks on mosque imams and obscene remarks about BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman across the country.
The procession started from Gafargaon railway station on Monday afternoon and ended in the area adjacent to the Upazila Parishad. Later, it turned into a rally there. It was led by former joint convener of Mymensingh district BNP and former convener of Pagla Thana BNP, Dr. Mofakhkharul Islam Rana.
Rana said at the rally that Tarique Rahman is a symbol of democracy. Under his leadership, there has been a struggle for democracy in this country for almost 17 years. Many BNP leaders and activists have been killed, many activists have been injured and paralyzed. Obscene statements, insults and conspiracies against Tarique Rahman will not be tolerated. Many members of Gafargaon Upazila and Pagla Thana BNP, including their affiliates and associate organizations, spoke at the rally.
Sheikh Md. Ishaq, former general secretary and former chairman of Upazila BNP, presided over the rally.
