
Snake infestation increased, people in panic in Boalkhali

Snake infestation has suddenly increased in Boalkhali, Chattogram, specially people are terrified of poisonous snake bites. Due to the monsoon, snakes come out of their habitats and come close to people, resulting in an increase in the number of snakebite patients.
This has created a fear of snakebite among people in different areas. Many have stopped moving at night due to fear of snakes. People are terrified.
Ataur Rahman Chowdhury Rana, a resident of Shakpura area of Boalkhali, said that snake infestation has been seen recently. A young man has died of snake bites. Some snakes have been killed by locals. Local people are in panic. I seek the intervention of the concerned department to kill the snakes.
According to the Upazila Health Complex, four patients were admitted to the hospital in June, including two males and two females. Eight patients were admitted in July, including seven males and one female. In addition, thirty-nine patients were admitted until August 16, including fifteen males and fourteen females.
Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. Jafrin Jahed Jiti said, "We have prepared medical supplies for snakebite patients, including antivenom." All our doctors have been trained in the treatment of snakebite patients. In addition, a medicine specialist has been appointed as a focal person so that doctors can get expert advice at any time.
Dr. Jafrin Jahed Jiti advised the public not to be panic and to be aware.
