
Four arrested with 56- kg cannabis in Chunarughat

In separate drives in Chunarughat upazila of Habiganj, a joint force seized 56 kilograms of cannabis, a covered van, and cash, and arrested four people. The operation was carried out on Wednesday from early morning till morning at Chandpur in Chunarughat, led by the commander of Madhabpur Army Camp.
Among the arrestees, two are drug traders and two are drug users. The traders are: Susen Deb (35), son of late Sunil Deb of Jalalabad village in Kulaura upazila of Moulvibazar, and Md. Abu Bakkar (35), son of late Haji Khalilullah of Paschim Bhabanipur village in Jagannathpur upazila of Sunamganj.
The drug users are: Montush Santal (30), son of late Priyanta Santal of Chandpur village in Chunarughat upazila of Habiganj, and Sujon Mali (35), son of Surendra Mali.
During the operation, 56 kilograms of cannabis, a 1.5-ton covered van, five mobile phones, and Tk. 3,550 in cash were recovered. The detainees were later handed over to Chunarughat Police Station. Legal proceedings are underway against them under the Narcotics Control Act.
The matter was confirmed by Chunarughat Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Nur Alam.
